On a culinary trail with the 3 G's: "Healthy, tasty, limitless" in Zell am See.

What many golfers
don't even know - here in Zell am See you are right in the middle of the "Via Culinaria" and have X possibilities to reward yourself after your game on one of the Leading Courses Austria Zell am See-Kaprun-Saalbach. The two 18-hole courses, named after the region's two local mountains, the "Schmittenhöhe" and the "Kitzsteinhorn", promise pure golfing enjoyment as well as a number of challenges thanks to the numerous bunkers, lakes and biotopes that are carefully integrated into the scenic course. 36 holes of golfing enjoyment with fantastic views of the three thousand meter peaks and Lake Zell.

The feast for
the eyes is then joined by a feast for the palate in the form of the three new "Glacier", "Mountain" and "Lake" pleasure trails with the best local cuisine. The ingredients for this innovative Alpine cuisine are provided by a trio of chefs who love to experiment, dedicated farmers and regional producers with ingredients ranging from Alpine thyme, crayfish and whitefish to the best meat, sausage and cheese products. If you are lucky enough to stay at the Schmittenhof, you not only have the Schmittenbahn cable car right above you, but also the award-winning chef Florian Zillner just around the corner. Today, the well-traveled young chef can be proud of his "Flo's Restaurant", which he opened in Martha's Boutique Hotel. His mother Martha supports him in style with handmade ceramics. Everything that is served here is usually from the garden, which shines out behind the pool area with all kinds of flowers and greenery. House guests are even allowed to help with the harvest, which makes you want to eat afterwards. The menu reads like this: Picking salad from the garden with smoked sturgeon, leek hearts with curd cheese, onions and broad beans and Martha's sunflowers with yoghurt for dessert. A real feast for the eyes and the palate!

You really can't
miss the KRAFTWERK restaurant in the middle of Zell am See, as the stylish entrance invites you to stop in. Around 1,000 different wines from all over the world are stored here and anyone embarking on a wine tasting would do well to try the seasonal Alpine cuisine beforehand. It doesn't have to be a 10-course menu, but why not? "Da Pinzgau" is the name of the menu sequence and serves delicious dishes from the entire region, from herb foam soup from Hollersbach to potato ice cream from Leogang and stone pine ice cream from Rauris. All you need to do is bring the necessary appetite.

Whether on the
mountain or in the valley - gourmet cuisine can also take après-ski to a new level. As seen in the Schmittenhöhe ski area, which is part of the multifaceted Zell am See-Kaprun ski area. Here, the "Schnapshans Bar" has always provided après-ski at its best - with live bands, dancing on the bar and halligalli into the evening hours. What has certainly remained is the gigantic all-round view of the snow-covered peaks of the 30 three-thousand-metre peaks of the Hohe Tauern and yes - they still party to the latest hits, but with social distancing rules. In return, there is champagne and small delicacies from the newly opened mountain hotel "Schmittenhöhe" next door. The newly opened "Franzl" at the Areitbahn mountain station is a completely different story. The "Franzl", with over 150 seats and a panoramic terrace, impresses with a modern-urban cuisine mix in a stylish atmosphere: large glass fronts offer a breathtaking view of the surrounding three thousand meter peaks and the fine wines from the well-stocked wine cellar can be enjoyed in style on the spacious sun terrace. So - let the winter come!
