Heat-free ...in the Azores
They are known as the "weather kitchen of Europe" - the nine Portuguese Atlantic islands, which lie over 1300 kilometers from the European mainland and around 2300 kilometers from Canada. This is where the "high" comes from, one of the most consistent with dry, hot weather - just like we have now. But despite the subtropical climate, it is the location in the middle of the Atlantic that brings the pleasant temperatures: up to 25° in summer, around 15° in winter and sufficient rainfall at all times of the year. Even in summer it sometimes rains heavily.
No problem for the golf enthusiast, because a little cool water from above is refreshing and increases concentration. Although the Ilhas dos Acores - the "Hawk Islands" - have only quietly made themselves known as a potential golf destination in recent years, they are still an insider tip for passionate golfers. To date, there are 45 holes on Sao Miguel, the main island, and 18 on Terceira, but more are being planned.
