The Constance Lake Night Festival is the annual open-air August highlight on the lake and attracts around 100,000 guests to the city's harbor area.

If you don't let this put you off, you can experience a program that promises pure goosebumps and plenty of action in glorious summer weather and balmy evenings. It's great that there are also the ideal retreats and that golf is an absolute minor matter.

It was to be the last lake night festival of this kind
I was told and of course that was the real reason for going there. Not quite, because the program sounded sensational: 2 countries, 2 festivals, 1 music-synchronized cross-border (D/CH)top fireworks display, as well as mega bands like Marquess and local groups. Plus a comprehensive supporting program with hundreds of boats on the lake. In short - fascinating entertainment on the water, in the air and in the harbor area, and for the last time in its previous form. To get in the mood, there was already the Stadtgartenfest with bands, culinary variety and lots of fun with comedy and cabaret in front of the breathtaking silhouette of the lake and the Alps. And then came the Night of Nights on August 10: this annual spectacle concluded with the much-anticipated fireworks display for the last time, attracting visitors from near and far. Pyrotechnics world champion Joachim Berner promised "a spectacular sound and light experience for all the senses" for a good half hour. And what can I say: you sit under an exploding night sky, which appears in all colors in sync with classical and rock music. A shower of stars with all kinds of figures pours down onto the lake and you can't help but be amazed. This extraordinary show in the night sky of Constance is pretty much the craziest fireworks display I have ever seen. Nevertheless, the city itself also has a lot to offer:

With Mediterranean flair in the historic old town with picturesque alleyways and facades
the harbor with its southern flair and breathtaking lake and alpine backdrop and a wide range of restaurants that spoil holidaymakers. In short - a stroll through the city is a must and can easily be done in one day: First to the cathedral, the harbor to the Imperia, the council building (the 600th anniversary celebrations have just taken place), the lakeside promenade and the Rosgarten Museum. The Golfclub Konstanz e. V. is also steeped in history.

When the club was founded in 1965, Hofgut Kargegg was a farm
- in the most beautiful location on the Bodanrück. And even today, the historic farmstead with its
hospitable comfort invites you to linger. "Easy playing" seems to be the motto here - no fixed tee times - just give us a call. The 18 holes are played over a range of hills between Lake Überlingen and Lake Radolfzell. This is what these areas of Lake Constance are called. Accordingly, the course is quite challenging with narrow fairways running between trees, hidden greens and water hazards. But there are also holes where you can relax - with great views over the lake and unspoiled nature that is not disturbed by anything.
On the Bodanrück I find the ideal counterpart to the exciting days on the lake and a more or less dramatic game of golf - Freudental Castle. The restored baroque building from 1699 now looks like a fairytale castle and is situated high above the village of Freudental. Thanks to the new owner Philipp Schwander, Switzerland's first "Master of Wine" from Zurich, the pink castle has been freshly renovated with 15 guest rooms, seven conference and banqueting rooms, a cozy vaulted cellar with bar and wine cellar. I am fascinated by the baroque stucco ceilings and original ceiling frescoes, the historic floor tiles and footed bathtubs in the rooms - all lovingly adapted to the overall work of art. The gigantic Murano crystal chandelier in the stairwell is an absolute eye-catcher and the castle garden with its thuja avenue and pavilion is an outdoor area. Perfect for weddings, but also for golfers who appreciate a lavish breakfast or a glass of the best red wine in an idyllic evening under the 300-year-old lime tree in front of the house.
