Yes, "Corona" also really messed up the start of the season for us golfers. Despite the summer temperatures in March and April, golf is not taking place. It was with painful incomprehension that we had to accept the ban on golf, even though this sport is so ideal for playing as a couple with the necessary distance or alone. For me, there's even something meditative about roaming through unspoiled nature alone, especially as you can concentrate fully on yourself and your game without any distracting conversations. Will this become a requirement for 2020, ask all those who are already dragging their feet and can hardly wait to unpack their golf clubs?

One thing is for sure
- after the long period of abstinence, the run to the golf courses and booking a tee time will be an adventure. There's only one thing to do: head up the mountain and enjoy a quiet round in unspoiled nature away from the crowded golf courses. One of the highest golf courses in Germany, the Berchtesgaden Golf Club at around 900 meters, is ideal for this. Its 9 holes, which were laid out 65 years ago, offer Alpine golf par excellence along with unforgettable panoramic views of the Watzmann, Kehlstein and Hochkalter. After a somewhat strenuous round, you can find out in the clubhouse that none other than Ike Eisenhower had a hand in its founding and what the historic Obersalzberg at the foot of the course is all about. You don't have to look far for the perfect place to relax afterwards, as the Kempinski Hotel Berchtesgaden is located around 100 meters above the golf course, like an oversized viewing balcony. As a golf-affine Alpine hideaway with huge glass fronts that reflect the mountain panorama and an outdoor pool right in the middle, the 5-star hotel is ideal for a break. Also because it offers just the right mix of lifestyle and Bavarian coziness - in the stylish lobby with fireplace and exquisite furnishings, in the spa and in the newly opened Michelin-starred restaurant PUR, where chef Ulli Heimann has been working for 15 years now. The design also corresponds exactly to his cooking philosophy: simple, with unusual accents, modern, innovative and yet down-to-earth. He finds inspiration for this when hiking, climbing or ski mountaineering. And golf ?

That can wait!
