something of a "must-have". The only difference is that you can't buy them, you have to earn them. Not always easy, because these excellent golf holes or greens, which you remember for the rest of your life, are usually located on a small island, surrounded by water or defended by sand bunkers. In short, it takes a mega shot to reach the flag - or a lot of finesse. "No risk, no fun" is the credo of the brave. It is rather unusual for people like me to even take on a five-hour journey to Lower Saxony for this, but there are good reasons for it: This is where the famous hole 14 of the 18-hole Niedersachsen Course with the legendary Keilerkopf is located. After all, it is also the heraldic animal of the von Hardenberg family, who own the two 18-hole courses "Niedersachsen" and "Göttingen". Since their opening in 2003 (as PAR 72 championship courses), they have been among the "Leading Courses" in the German golf landscape. This is primarily due to the aforementioned island green with wedge head and the varied layout in the hilly Harz foothills with flowering orchards and old trees, hidden biotopes and canyons to play over. But it is also due to the small, fine 5-star Relais & Châteaux "Burghotel Hardenberg", built in half-timbered style with 38 cozy rooms.
