Palma for art-loving connoisseurs

The city itself is synonymous with exquisite boutique hotels, rich local or experimental gastronomy, luxury boutiques or traditional stores and art of all genres. But where to start and where to end? On the way to the cathedral, which is the number one hotspot here, you pass the most beautiful historical buildings, the Almudaina Gardens and the Mercat de l`Olivar, where you can sample the most delicious tapas. The harbor with its luxury yachts is always an attraction and why not hire a boat and see the city from the sea? Click & Boat makes it easy and serves small delicacies on the two-hour tour. Shopping is a big theme here and not just for fashion. The Paseo del Borne is perfect for this, but everyone can also find a bargain in the small alleyways around Mercat Square. The boutiques Rialto Living and Casa Lima offer the latest chic concept stores. Art can be found in the RED Square gallery in the center of Palma, an area that has quickly become the hottest spot on the Balearic art scene. Its focus is on the best contemporary art by established artists such as Andy Warhol, Jean-Michel Basquiat and Damien Hirst. Other galleries can be found directly on Avenida Jaime III between the Fera and Aromata restaurants and the Fundación Joan March represents the most important Spanish avant-garde artists of the 20th century. We recommend spending three days in Palma:
Stay at the Hotel Sant Jaume because it is located in the middle of the old town between an imposing Gothic church and a baroque monastery from the 14th century. From the outside, it looks like a former patrician residence from the 18th century, but the lobby offers an eye-catching effect with artfully arranged pictures and a stylish bar. The rather purist interior of the restaurant is livened up by works of art and is intended to draw attention to the delicious food. Minimalist and furnished in a contemporary style, the rooms with elegant wooden floors are nevertheless cozy and the rooftop with terrace and pool will make any heart beat faster. The hotel is part of the "IT Mallorca Unique Spaces" group along with three other hotels - all in the 5-star luxury range and all with a specific concept. Can Alomar, Calatrava and Can Cera, which is hidden behind a huge gate and only admits registered guests, are located nearby. We highly recommend eating in the romantic garden of the Botànic-Can Bordoy restaurant with food sharing and the best wines from the island.
