My journey from Lech to Hittisau was full of surprises:

Lifestyle and 5-star hotels here, farmhouses and "Wäldlerhäuser" there. The "Ländle" is not only a culinary delicacy and an architectural marvel. It can no longer be ignored in golfing terms either. Since June, the winter tourism hotspot of Lech has also had a 9-hole course to attract guests in summer. Situated at 1,500 meters in the Zugertal valley, it is the highest in Austria and a real forest and meadow course, as it is surrounded by nature and the Lech-Zürser ski mountains. Anyone who thinks that the game here is a walk in the park will be disabused of this notion straight away: the first few holes, which wind their way narrowly and trickily between fir trees, alpine meadows and the babbling Lechbach stream, pose the threat of losing the ball. Straight shots are like hitting the lottery six here, just like the "Rote Wand" right next door for culinary enthusiasts with its award-winning cuisine, innovative hotel design and top service for guests.

As Sandra Moosbrugger from the Hotel Post puts it so aptly: "We still call ourselves an inn because the guest is our absolute No. 1 priority". She shows me the new rooms and suites in a chic Alpine design, the new spa with its own Swiss skin care line and, of course, the award-winning cuisine that golfing guests can enjoy around the clock. The pattern is similar in the Bregenzerwald village of Hittisau. Although there is neither a jet-set clientele nor 5-star hotels here, there is that certain something that attracts a high-ranking clientele. This refers to the art of combining tradition with modernity in such a sensitive way that a harmonious whole is created. Two hotels stand for this: the Krone and the Schiff. Both 4-star hotels have the rustic, wood-panelled "Wäldlerstube" with low ceilings and authentic interiors. In addition, there are modern rooms, reading rooms with a fireplace and a small, fine wellness area with a pool and cozy relaxation areas. And that's exactly what we golfers appreciate. Especially after a game on the hilly Bregenzerwald Golf Park, which is one of the most beautiful of the six courses here. What else does Hittisau stand for? For musical enjoyment, from the Bregenz Festival to the Schubertiade in Schwarzenberg.
