Hot & Spicy
The healing effect of spices is currently on everyone's lips, as they not only provide delicious taste explosions, but are also considered a true superfood when it comes to beauty and a healthy diet. Some are even said to be more effective than some antibiotics!
This time, my journey, spiced up with plenty of sun and sea, takes me from A for "antioxidant" to Z for "cinnamon" - or to Z for "Zuri Zanzibar"! The newly opened design hotel is the ideal hideaway on Zanzibar, the "Spice Island" in the Indian Ocean. Typical local spices such as ginger, turmeric, paprika and cumin grow here in abundance and in exceptionally high quality.
Zuri Zanzibar owes its name to the Swahili word for "beautiful". And it really is paradisiacally beautiful here: the eco-friendly resort exudes uncomplicated luxury and has a hip design with a traditional African ethos. Add to this the gleaming white beach as fine as powdered sugar and the bright blue sea. In addition to its beautiful ambience, the hotel offers everything my Body&Soul heart desires: daily yoga classes in the open yoga pavilion with panoramic views or on the beach, relaxing and holistic treatments in the Maua Spa and a Wild Fitness Area with outdoor gym.
The extensive Zuri Garden is unique and truly deserves the title "Garden of Eden". Exotic fruits, local medicinal herbs and spices such as cloves, nutmeg, cinnamon and black pepper thrive here on 1.6 hectares of lush flowering plants and tropical trees. Secluded clearings with stylish sofas and hammocks in the middle of the garden invite you to retreat into the tranquillity of nature away from the sea with a book. The real heart of the garden is the Spice House, where I learn more about the healing effects of spices and their use in Swahili cuisine in an authentic way during a cooking class. During a guided "Nature Walk" along winding paths and a subsequent mindfulness meditation with passionate yoga teacher and detox expert Timi Miklos, I immerse myself in the fascinating aromas of the exotic island flora and experience them with all my senses. "Spice up your life" actually happens all by itself at Zuri Zanzibar - Asante sana!
