May: OLM Nature Escape
Perpetual spring fever in the circular OLM
When an eco-apart-hotel stands out so visually from everything that has gone before, expectations are naturally high. This innovative guest house with apart-suites in the Tauferer Ahrntal valley is up to the task - a place that stands for special experiences, broadens the horizon and appeals to all the senses: OLM Nature Escape. The name OLM comes from the dialect word for alpine pasture and is a reference to the location in the middle of the Tauferer Ahrntal, in the alpine landscape surrounded by mountains not far from Bruneck. On the other hand, it means "everlasting" and an infinite passing of time - everything always in a natural cycle.
Spring is just around the corner: More than 300 days of sunshine a year, lush alpine pastures, vineyards and orchards as far as the eye can see - these are just some of the advantages of this wonderful region. In the middle of the South Tyrolean mountains, in Sand in Taufers to be precise, there are all sorts of things to do in spring from Monday to Friday: guided hikes and forest bathing, excursions to the parish museum, a cheese dairy or brewery or a relaxing stay in the Prettau climate gallery. Yoga and brunch take place on Sundays. During the Breathing Weeks in the Ahrntal pure air area, you can learn about the power of breathing and various relaxation techniques. Directly adjacent to Sand in Taufers is the Riesenferner-Ahrn nature reserve, which is the most glacier-rich nature park in South Tyrol with 38 three-thousand-metre peaks.
Energy autonomy and exceptional architecture: The circular OLM reflects the cycle of life and nature. A total of 33 elegant apart-suites in cozy larch wood and the charm of a modern interpretation of an alpine hut are available, most of which have a kitchenette, their own sauna and free-standing bathtub. Large glass fronts open up views of the picturesque landscape of the Ahrntal Valley;
Owner Christian Lechner sees genuine sustainability as a mission for the future. Energy is supplied by the building's own geothermal heating plant and photovoltaic system, while mountain spring water is freely available throughout the building thanks to the building's own spring. This makes the OLM probably the first energy self-sufficient, CO2-neutral and independent Eco-Aparthotel in the Alps, which naturally does not go unnoticed. In addition to two of the most coveted awards for high-quality tourism concepts, Green Pearls and Ecoluxury, the OLM was recently awarded the highest level for sustainability as a holistic philosophy: the South Tyrol Level 3 sustainability label, which is equivalent to the internationally recognized GSTC standard (Global Sustainable Tourism Council Hotel Criteria) and is regarded as a guarantee for sustainable tourism;
The inner circle with a diameter of 60 m is designed as a wild recreational garden with a natural swimming pond in keeping with the eco-friendly concept. Thanks to the hotel's own electricity, guests can use the 25 m long sports pool all year round with a clear conscience.
Culinary freedom: Completely detached from the classic half board, only rooms with breakfast are booked here. The offer includes a variety of hand-picked, local products with a high organic content, including specialties with organic free-range eggs, refreshing smoothies, homemade bread and cakes as well as the hotel's own muesli mixes. In the evening, guests can choose between individual "Dine Around" in the region, self-catering thanks to the in-house specialty store or from the culinary calendar at PRENN°, the culinary center at OLM. The Alpine-Mediterranean specialties are offered as an aperitif dinner, a tapas buffet with more than three dietary preferences, in the show kitchen. In addition, chef Berni Aichner offers a special menu, the OLM Dinner, with special themes. "Best of South Tyrol" with a fine pinch of Italy, France, Germany and Austria is the motto of the wine list, which is also excellently stocked.
