December: Hotel Deimann

Out into nature - into Deimann winter happiness

Glistening snow, gentle hills, silence and wrapped up snug and warm - a winter hike through the Schmallenberger Sauerland is wonderful. The family-run Hotel Deimann, the only five-star superior hotel in the Sauerland, provides even more vacation pleasures with a spacious spa area, exquisite Michelin-starred cuisine and plenty of activities during the winter season.

Relaxation begins on arrival, when guests have chosen their preferred temporary home from among the elegant rooms, junior suites and penthouse suites. The suites in the new Sorpehaus extension, for example, offer a particularly exclusive ambience: local oak wood, fine wool carpets and linen characterize the design, an open fireplace invites you to snuggle up in front of the crackling fire or relax in the private Finnish sauna. Families will find plenty of space and freedom in the family rooms and suites. With so much coziness, it's hard to leave the hotel, but you should, because the beautiful nature surrounding the Hotel Deimann attracts guests to the outdoors.

Active, cozy or both: The Hunau and Rothaargebirge mountains are known as a local recreation area and for winter sports as the largest ski area north of the Alps. Perfectly signposted winter hiking trails, the resort's own curling rink, a network of cross-country ski trails and the 58 kilometers of pistes in the Winterberg ski area leave nothing to be desired and make sports enthusiasts' hearts beat faster. Children can let off steam on numerous toboggan runs and sledging hills. On some of them, conveyor belts help to avoid the arduous ascent, but the rapid descent is often completed several times. A trip to the private Knollenhütte, not far from the Hotel Deimann, promises rustic winter fun. After a short walk to the rustic forest hut, hungry guests can fortify themselves with the Knollenhütte snack board. Regional sausage and cheese specialties as well as oven-fresh bread provide enough energy for a long walk back to the hotel. Those who prefer a more leisurely pace can enjoy a romantic horse-drawn sleigh ride through the snow-covered landscape and then look forward to a warming punch in the hotel bar.

Relax deluxe on over 5.000 square meters: Speaking of "warming" - those seeking relaxation can now enjoy a new addition to the SPA at the Gutshof: adult guests can relax in the "Seeterrassen" lounging and relaxation area on a total of three floors - either on cosy hanging swings or daybeds and in the cosy warmth of the fireplace lounge with large windows or in the two new panoramic saunas, which offer a view of the wintry hotel park. An infinity pool has also been available since this summer - here you can swim laps in the natural cinema.

Still not warmed up? Then head to the sauna area, where guests are spoiled for choice and can choose between a steam sauna, Finnish sauna, infrared sauna, tecaldarium, aroma bath or bio sauna. The luxurious spa also features a salt saline, a sunbathing area, a hammam and a Rasul bath for maximum relaxation. For beauty and wellness treatments, an expert spa team is on hand to recommend an exclusive massage or cosmetic treatment according to your wishes and requirements.

Culinary delights at the highest level: Since holistic well-being always includes culinary delights, the Deimann family pays particular attention to the kitchen and cellar. In the à la carte restaurant, the kitchen team spoils guests with varied creations. However, the heart of the gastronomy is the gourmet restaurant Hofstube Deimann, which has been awarded a Michelin star and recently moved into its new premises on the second floor of the main building. Here you can feast on the fine delicacies of head chef Felix Weber at the highest level. Whether oysters with elderberry vinaigrette, goose liver terrine in a port wine coat or smoked eel with wafer-thin bread chips: In his open show kitchen, chef Felix Weber creates purist menus from simple foods of the highest product quality.

Restaurant manager and sommelier Christian Pufahl and hotelier Jochen Deimann ensure that the wine cellar is always well stocked . The two not only love fine wines themselves and select them with great care, but also like to serve them to their guests with the right dish. Jochen Deimann is particularly enthusiastic about German winegrowers, but the outspoken connoisseur collects wines from all over the world. Up to 500 wines are stored in Deimann's cellar vaults, waiting to be tasted by equally enthusiastic wine lovers.
