Tuscany: time out in a luxury village
Golf, pleasure & privacy at Rosewood Castiglion del Bosco
Rosewood Castiglion del Bosco is one of the oldest and best-preserved country estates in Italy. It is located in Montalcino in Tuscany, in the heart of the world-famous Brunello di Montalcino wine-growing region. The 800-year-old estate has been privately owned by Massimo and Chiara Ferragamo since 2003. They have transformed historic castle ruins, a medieval church and a historic village ("borgo") into an elegant retreat dedicated entirely to pleasure.
Holidays in a farmhouse
Guests can choose from 42 suites with antique furniture, handmade textiles and works of art as well as 11 luxurious villas. The former feature exposed wooden beams, cosy sitting areas and muted colors. They all have terraces, are surrounded by nature and equipped with the latest technology. The 11 luxurious villas are a special feature. The former farmhouses from the 17th and 18th centuries have been carefully restored. Lots of stone, wood, antiques and custom-made furniture make each villa unique. They have three to six bedrooms and private pools. Some of the villas also have a wood-fired pizza oven, a home cinema or a private tennis court. A break from everyday life with maximum security and privacy is guaranteed.
Culinary delights are provided by two restaurants under the direction of head chef Matteo Temperini. He attaches great importance to fresh and seasonal ingredients and the vegetables for his creations come from the resort's own organic vegetable garden. The dishes reflect local Tuscan traditions. In the evening, for example, the Ristorante Campo del Drago serves upscale classic Italian dishes, while the Osteria La Canonica in the heart of the Borgo offers the informal atmosphere of a trattoria. If you want, you can learn the fine art of Italian cuisine from the chef himself in the former priest's house. He gives two-hour cooking courses in the La Canonica cooking school.
Relaxation for body and soul
A sustainable lifestyle has always been a top priority in Tuscany. The unspoiled nature of the estate, healthy and regional food and wine from the estate's own vineyards are just as much a part of this concept at Rosewood Castiglion del Bosco as a comprehensive range of outdoor sports and fitness activities. For example, golfers can indulge their passion on the 18-hole golf course with Italy's only private golf club, stroll through the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Val d'Orcia, take part in wine tastings at the hotel's own vineyard and much more.
There is even a wonderful spa, housed in the estate's former wine cellars. Here you can relax in the sauna, steam bath or in the garden. Holistic treatments with the perfect combination of technology and products ensure maximum well-being.
