Slow & Green Travel
Luxury travel consciously and more sustainably
Travelers are just as different as their preferences. Some prefer to fly to Milan for the weekend and have breakfast with a view of Milan Cathedral. Others are more concerned about minimizing their impact on the environment and opt for first class on the Nightjet and a vegan dinner instead of the Boeing A7. It doesn't matter what type of traveler you are, because every form of travel has its raison d'être. For all those who want to travel slower and greener in the future, there are two travel trends that we would like to introduce to you. Slow and green travel focus primarily on conscious and sustainable travel. Find out exactly what the two terms mean and why this topic might be of interest to you here.
What is Green Travel?
Green travel primarily describes sustainable travel. Increased attention is being paid to keeping one's own ecological footprint as low as possible while traveling. This starts with the choice of transportation and continues through to booking green hotels or avoiding single-use plastic. The concept of sustainability is multi-layered and offers a number of opportunities for implementation. There is also a lot going on behind the scenes at accommodation and hotels that is often only visible to guests at second glance. Did you know, for example, that the Stanglwirt organic and wellness resort uses mountain water from the Wilder Kaiser in its own wellness area? Green Travel tries to make travel more resource-friendly, but this does not mean compromising on luxury or well-being.
What is Slow Travel?
In addition to green travel, there is also the slow travel trend. This is not about capturing the vacation with lots of photos and only traveling for the moment, pressing the camera shutter release. Rather, the trend is about experiencing inimitable moments. Slow travel focuses on getting to know the country, its people and its culture better during your stay. For every traveler, conscious travel means something different. Many people appreciate the stress-free way of exploring a destination and really getting to grips with it. Others take the opportunity to rent a houseboat so that they can not only travel freely, but also according to their own schedule. To travel for the adventure itself and not just so that you can tick another item off your bucket list. Slow travel means enjoying, experiencing and really being in the thick of it.
It starts on arrival and continues until the end of your stay. There are many ways to take care of the environment while traveling. Instead of always traveling by plane, you can also opt for the train. Or avoid single-use plastic on the way and leave no waste behind. Even small changes can help you to travel greener in the future.
