Wedding in the private lodge

Marriage and honeymoon in Kenya

The leading Kenyan conservation organization Great Plains protects and expands natural habitats in Africa. It has a long-term commitment to African wildlife and local communities. Great Plains Conservation also operates 15 renowned safari lodges, three of which are in Kenya. They all offer exceptional safari experiences, all in line with the conservation organization's values. The Kenyan lodges Great Plains ol Donyo Lodge, Mara Plains and Mara Nyika Camp not only specialize in creating unique experiences for couples, but are also available for exclusive hire for weddings.

Get married with Maasai

Couples who say "I do" at ol Donyo Lodge can celebrate this with a Maasai blessing in accordance with Kenyan tradition. The intimate ceremony takes place in front of a gathering of Maasai men, women and warriors. They all wear their most beautiful beadwork, sing traditional songs and crown the special moment with ceremonial leaps into the air.

If you rent one of the camps exclusively, you can celebrate the start of your married life late into the night with a lavish party, delicious food and chilled champagne. The menu is completely tailored to the guests' wishes. The bride and groom then lie down to rest under the sparkling African canopy of stars before their life's journey together begins the next day with a spectacular hot air balloon ride over the picturesque Maasai Mara.

The Great Plains team helps its guests to spend unforgettable moments in the African bush. Whether it's a wedding or a honeymoon. The renewal of wedding vows and vows can also be celebrated on request.
"Africa is still one of the top destinations for honeymoons as camps like Great Plains offer the adventure that guests want, but also the luxurious seclusion that we offer. They can be on their own but also choose when they want to do something great like a walking safari together or get close to cheetahs. A safari is a spiritual journey and sharing it with someone you love can really set the tone for the beginning of your life together," says Dereck Joubert, CEO and co-founder of Great Plains.
