Fairweg combines luxury with sustainability

New platform for green luxury experiences

Guests who want to enjoy a sustainable vacation without sacrificing the highest level of comfort will find what they are looking for on the new B2C and B2B booking platform Fairweg by Mark Schumacher and Ralf Hieke. The portfolio includes almost 300 hotels worldwide, including around 60 five-star hotels in the Dominican Republic, France, Greece, Italy, Indonesia, Jamaica, Croatia, Morocco, the Maldives and Mauritius, as well as in Portugal, Spain, Sri Lanka, Switzerland, Thailand, Turkey and the USA. In some cases, flights can be booked including CO2 compensation and, in the near future, rail travel will also be available. In the near future, Fairweg also plans to offer sustainable travel under its own brand as a tour operator.

The hotels are assessed on the basis of a sustainability score. This comprises twelve criteria such as green electricity, recycling, social commitment and the avoidance of plastic waste. In addition, 17 sustainability and eco-certificates are included. Customers can filter their search results according to various sustainability criteria.

One of the selected hotels is the Leading Hotel São Lourenço do Barrocal in the Alentejo. The 780-hectare estate has been family-owned for 200 years. The cottages, suites and guest rooms are furnished with authentic designer furniture. Guests can enjoy massages and beauty treatments with natural cosmetic products in the spa and the farm-to-table concept is implemented in the in-house restaurant. Existing building materials were used in the renovation of the São Lourenço do Barrocal, and electricity and hot water are partly generated from the hotel's own solar panels.
