Top for romantics and declared individualists who prefer to travel in style and are looking for something special
This stylish Small Luxury Hotel on Playa Dorada, not far from Puerta Plata, is a real feel-good place where you will want to return again and again to relax and unwind. For example, on the fine sandy stretch of private beach surrounded by tall coconut palms. Or at the beautiful infinity pool on the roof terrace, where excellent cocktails are mixed at the Aqua Bar. Or in the evening at dinner - unfortunately only indoors - in the Lucia restaurant, where the chef from Santo Domingo only works with first-class products and serves a great tuna tartare with wasabi cream, white soy sauce and marinated cucumber. To accompany the mineral water, the friendly and attentive waiter presents us with a platter of different lime, lime and lemon slices to choose from, and after dessert he comes to our table with the digestif trolley.
The proud doorman in white shorts, short-sleeved shirt and tropical hat, who greets us warmly, is also stylish and present in this ambience. The entire service is impressive: very personal, but at the same time very unobtrusive. The entire interior of Casa Colonial is also very personal. One of the hotel owner's sisters is an architect and has furnished the hideaway with contemporary works of art and design objects - such as the large shell sculptures in the second restaurant, Veranda. Breakfast is served there - à la carte and with a bit of a wait. A tip for the hungry is the sumptuously filled Mexican breakfast tortilla.
The junior suites and suites are very spacious, bright and some have a wonderful view of the sea. In the Casa Colonial, we also recommend the suites with a view of the tropical garden, which is extremely well maintained and beautifully illuminated in the evening.
