Seychelles open - more flights

Qatar Airways expands capacity

As was recently announced, the national vaccination strategy of the island paradise of the Seychelles is paying off. The vaccination and thus the immunization of a large part of the population is now so far advanced that, from the current perspective, the archipelago in the Indian Ocean would like to welcome international guests again from 25 March 2021, whether with or without vaccination. Qatar Airways is responding.

Three flights a week to the Seychelles

Qatar's state-owned airline is responding to the full opening of the Seychelles by expanding its capacities. From the end of March, Qatar Airways will be flying three times a week to Mahé, the main island of the Seychelles, with a state-of-the-art Boeing 787 Dreamliner. Doha will serve as the international hub. In order to offer passengers the greatest possible safety and comfort, the aircraft are currently being upgraded with more seats. Reason for joy not only for travelers, but also for Qatar Airways Chief Commercial Officer Thierry Antinori: "We resumed our flights to the Seychelles in December 2020. Now, as the islands continue to open up to visitors, we are delighted to offer more seat availability and an enhanced sustainable experience for our passengers on our Boeing 787 Dreamliners."

Despite full opening, there are of course measures and entry requirements: There are no quarantine requirements or movement restrictions for guests entering via Doha. They must comply with the security regulations on the islands and present a negative PCR test upon entry. Sherin Francis, Chief Executive of the Seychelles Tourism Board is pleased with the opening steps and admits: "Tourism, which would not function without our airline partners, plays an essential role in our economy. The availability of the Qatar Airways Boeing 787 Dreamliner on the Seychelles route will increase capacity, but more importantly the comfort of guests traveling to the Seychelles. At a time like this, every improvement in the guest experience counts a little more than before and I thank Qatar Airways for that."

The award-winning Qatar Airways currently flies to over 130 destinations around the world - more than any other airline. In Germany, there are currently daily flights from Munich and two daily flights from Frankfurt as well as five weekly flights from Berlin. Four flights a week connect Vienna with the rest of the world.
