Top international cuisine as a guest in Vienna: Thomas Seifried serves up with 3-star chef Richard Ekkebus
Culinary flight of fancy at the Mandarin Oriental, Vienna
Vienna is starting the new year with a top-class culinary event: following the grand opening of the Mandarin Oriental, Vienna, another highlight awaits gourmets at the end of January. On January 23, 24 and 25, Executive Chef Thomas Seifried and Richard Ekkebus, Culinary Director of the award-winning three-star restaurant "Amber" in Hong Kong, will be hosting an exclusive 4-hands dinner in the restaurant "Le Sept".
When two of the most renowned chefs of their generation come together, the result is much more than a classic fine dining experience. On three evenings, two culinary signatures merge into a finely tuned dialog as part of a six-course menu. The clear, modern line of Thomas Seifried meets the Asian-influenced cuisine of Richard Ekkebus, which is known for its depth, sustainability and technical precision. The joint menu stands for mutual respect, creative inspiration and the highest standards of craftsmanship.
Fine dining with a sustainable focus
Richard Ekkebus stands for a contemporary fine dining philosophy that reinterprets classic techniques and consistently focuses on product quality and balance. A central component of his approach is the idea of sustainability. On the occasion of the 20th anniversary of his restaurant, Ekkebus is using this milestone to bring his sustainability approach more to the fore:
"20 years is a key milestone that has inspired us to think outside the box and be more conscious of every stop in the guest experience," says Richard Ekkebus, Culinary Director of Amber at Mandarin Oriental, The Landmark in Hong Kong"
Two manuscripts, one culinary dramaturgy
What Seifried and Ekkebus have in common is their uncompromising focus on taste and product quality , underpinned by a deep appreciation of local and seasonal ingredients. At the same time, Asian culinary artistry and French precision characterize the style of both chefs and lend their dishes international depth and timeless elegance.
From 23 to 25 January, guests can expect a six-course menu that is deliberately not defined in detail in advance, but follows a sophisticated culinary dramaturgy. The focus is on Asian-inspired flavors , implemented with classic cooking techniques, complemented by selected meat dishes and finely composed seafood.
"We want to take our guests on a culinary journey without anticipating too much. The menu thrives on exciting flavors, different textures and high-quality products that leave room for pleasant surprises," says Thomas Seifried, Executive Chef of the Mandarin Oriental, Vienna.
