Dolce Vita in the Indian Ocean
Emerald Maldives with Italian lifestyle
The relatively new Emerald Maldives Resort & Spa is bringing a breath of fresh air to the island paradise. At the five-star resort, which only officially opened in December 2019, guests can now enjoy homemade ice cream and pizza from the charcoal oven. The brand remains true to its Italian roots and combines the best of two worlds.
Authentic indulgence
It is obvious that the Italian attitude to life can be wonderfully combined with powdered-sugar sandy beaches, crystal-clear water, palm trees and blue skies. But at the same time, the dolce vita that the Mediterranean country is usually associated with should also be as authentic as possible. Chef Aldo Cadau will ensure this in future. He is a true Italian. Born and raised in Sardinia, more or less in his parents' bakery, he not only knows first-hand what the Mediterranean way of life feels like, but also knows the secrets of Italian cuisine inside out. From now on, he will be sharing his knowledge with guests at Emerald Maldives Resort & Spa in Raa Atoll.
In a two-hour cooking course 8000 kilometers away from his home country, he will show the whole family which ingredients are needed for crispy pizza dough, which toppings taste best and how to prepare the perfect gelato from tropical ingredients such as papaya and coconut. Of course, the home-made dishes are then enjoyed together with your feet in the sand at the Aqua Restaurant. The cooking courses are an exclusive experience, as they can be booked for a maximum of two adults and four children per session.
Bella Italia also in the interior
The Italian way of life also continues in the family villa. The architecture of the entire resort is an exciting mix of Asian and Italian elements with large, white marble bathrooms, silver mirrors and maritime decorations. Guests can choose from a total of 11 different villa categories, 60 beach villas and 60 overwater villas are available.
The Emerald Spa is traditionally Asian, or more precisely Balinese and Thai. Guests can enjoy treatments and therapies in the best wellness tradition, while the children have fun in the kids' club. Two tennis courts, two paddle courts, a water sports center, a diving center and a modern Technogym provide a sporty balance to the enjoyment.
