Maison Davidoff
New opening Maison Davidoff
Oettinger Davidoff AG has opened the Maison Davidoff at Nauenstrasse 73 in Basel. The new building and headquarters of the Basel-based family business Oettinger Davidoff AG replaces the company building from 1930 on the same site. The old building, which had previously been remodeled several times, had served the company for over 85 years. After completion of the two-year construction period, from April 2015 to July 2017, around 160 employees work in the new Maison Davidoff.
Beat Hauenstein, CEO of Oettinger Davidoff AG,
explains: "I am proud to officially open Maison Davidoff here in the heart of Basel today. I would like to thank our colleagues and partner companies who have put their heart and soul into this project right up to the last minute. Today's inauguration is not only a milestone in the history of our company, the Maison Davidoff is also a great gift from the owners, which we can finally move into after two years of construction; it is a happy homecoming. The new building supports cross-departmental collaboration and fosters the creativity, productivity and innovation that are key to the successful global growth of our cigar business."
Designed by Diener & Diener, the Maison Davidoff
blends into the Basel cityscape in a modern and natural way. The new building creates open, communicative work and representation spaces on seven floors with an area of 7,667 m2 (SIA 416). Work areas are complemented by showrooms, state-of-the-art cigar lounges, a cafeteria and a parking garage with 24 parking spaces. "With the expressive load-bearing exterior columns, we wanted to create a building that speaks of the lively interior with Davidoff's workplaces. Like a choir, the columns surround the office levels and become part of the tectonics, the poetics of the handcrafted construction. The outer form is aimed at passers-by and opposes the anonymity of the major traffic axis," says Roger Diener.
