These destinations will set the tone in 2024!
If you are looking for a destination for your next trip that is currently considered to be "up and coming", you should leave the beaten track. After all, it is often the smaller "siblings" of already well-known destinations that are starting to get on the radar of international guests. Other regions invest and suddenly score points with new luxury. Which trend destinations will set the tone in 2024:
Bhutan
The small kingdom in the Himalayas is known primarily because it is the only country in the world that has enshrined the happiness of its inhabitants in law. There are also cultural and spiritual highlights. For example, the iconic "Tiger's Nest" monastery on its steep cliff or the "Palace of Happiness". The latter is an exciting combination of fortress and monastery. It is home to numerous religious treasures. Bhutan's nature is not only breathtaking thanks to the majestic Himalayan peaks. Rushing rivers and dense forests also characterize the landscape.
Hotel tips: The new andBeyond Lodge Punakha River recently opened. It is one of the few lodges located directly on the banks of the o Chu. Aman has been represented in Bhutan for some time with the Amankora. The resort's five lodges are spread across five different valleys. The same applies to Six Senses. The total of 82 villas and suites are spread across Thimphu, Punakha, Paro, Gangtey and Bumthang.
Sumba, Indonesia
Bali is known as the Indonesian dream destination par excellence. But the island has been plagued by overtourism for years. Half of the 10 million guests that Indonesia welcomes every year come to the island. There is currently no relief in sight. A tourist tax is intended to provide a remedy. If you want to experience the impressive culture of Indonesia with all its myths and legends without any stress, Sumba is the right place for you. The island has a natural jewel in the shape of Praiwijaya Beach. You can also visit traditional villages (Tarung, Kampung Tarung, Ratenggaro) with their typical architecture. The latter is also known for its prehistoric tombs. The island is lushly forested and boasts waterfalls and rugged cliffs.
Hotel tip: The NIHI Sumba consists of 27 uniquely designed villas with private pools. It is located directly on Nihiwatu Beach. In addition to warm service and luxurious facilities, the highlights include the resort's legendary horses. You can even go swimming with them. Seahorse with hooves, that is.

Tbilisi, Georgia
The Georgian capital is not yet on the radar of many travelers. Wrongly so, because it scores points with its extremely charming old town district, for example. Its small alleyways and colorful houses invite you to relax and unwind. Highlights such as the Metechi Church, Sioni Cathedral or Fort Narikala are just as worth a visit as Freedom Square with its restaurants and stores. To relax, head to one of the sulphur baths. The culinary variety is also not to be sneezed at. Tbilisi is a paradise for gourmets. Georgian cuisine, including khachapuri (cheese-filled bread) and khinkali (dumplings), will make gourmets go into raptures.
Hotel tip: The Paragraph Freedom Square was the first hotel to open in the Marriott Luxury Collection. Situated in a beautiful historic building, it is worth seeing for its semi-circular architecture alone. Inside, guests can look forward to 127 luxurious rooms and suites.
TIFLIS
Menorca, Spain
While the Canary Islands recently sounded the alarm about expected overtourism and Mallorca has long been aware of the phenomenon, the unspoilt Balearic island of Menorca is still an exciting alternative. The pretty capital Mahon enchants visitors with its natural harbor and the promenade along which you can stroll in a relaxed manner. The Fortaleza de la Mola stands imposingly at the entrance to the harbor. On the west coast, you can admire the Gothic cathedral in Ciutadella. Or take the "horse trail" to hike along the coast. Medieval villages and prehistoric sites complete the varied offer.
Hotel tip: The best place to stay in Ciutadella is the Vestige Son Vell. It is owner-managed and offers an outdoor pool, beautiful rooms and great service. The second hotel in the collection will open soon. It will bear the name Son Ermitá.
SON VELL
Madagascar

The island is also considered a species paradise. Visits to Ranomafana National Park or the Tsingy de Bemaraha nature reserve are impressive proof of this. Romantic fishing villages and beautiful beaches do the rest.

These range from traditional crafts to food markets.

But it's still well worth a visit. After all, far away from the crowds, it has all the advantages of other Greek islands.
