Chill out in front of the Venice skyline

What a feeling! Sun, pool and cocktails with a view of San Marco - just a 15-minute boat ride away from the hustle and bustle, pure dolce vita awaits at the JW Marriott Venice: a private island resort that turns Venice into a glamorous wellness oasis.

Splashing around in the pool with the best view of St. Mark's Square , sun on your skin, carpaccio, pasta and fried fish under the stars, laid-back lounge music, delicious cocktails and the feeling of being in a luxury vacation resort. High summer temperatures at the end of September, we are not on Mykonos or in Saint-Tropez, but at the JW Marriott Venice, just 15 minutes by boat from St. Mark's Square, and are getting to know Venice from a completely different angle. An autumn break in the lagoon city - that sounds like culture and art in the Serenissima, which you actually always have to share with numerous tourists. Here we find Venice as a top-class wellness and well-being hotspot at the height of summer. We have landed on the 16-hectare private island of Isola della Rose - named after the lush rose gardens - where it feels like you only meet a few people. An experience of simply being on vacation in the middle of nature. And with Venetian icing on the cake: The free shuttle boat takes us to St. Mark's Square in just a few minutes, from where we can conquer our dream city.

The advantages of staying at the JW Marriott Venice and not directly in the middle of Venice are obvious: the rooms and villas at the Resort & Spa - which is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year - are elegantly styled and generously designed by star designer Matteo Thun - which means plenty of space to relax, especially in the retreat area in our 145 m² maisonette villa with terrace. From this retreat, we take a leisurely stroll through olive groves and rose gardens to the spa - the largest in Venice, with 8 treatment rooms! - enjoy an excellent massage with Maria Galland products and then: Wow, what a view! From the outdoor infinity pool, you can see the Campanile, San Marco and Salute. There's hardly a wish left unfulfilled, but your stomach is still churning: so no more sunbathing, back to the stylishly decorated main building and up to the 6th floor for dinner at the Sagra Roof Top Restaurant, one of four on the island. The motto everywhere: farm to table, vegetables and herbs come from the island's own garden. At first, our breath almost stops at the sight of the scenery: Nowhere else can you get such a gigantic 360-degree view of Venice and the lagoon! The menu can easily keep up: Imaginative antipasti dishes, pasta with vegetables, truffles or clams, Fiorentina beefsteak and lots of fresh fish - we choose the branzino in a salt crust, simply delicious! - and endless dessert temptations from classic tiramisu to ice cream and fruit to incomparably good chocolate profiteroles.

The next day we learn how to mix unusual signature drinks such as the Mediterranean Dream with mezcal, Chartreuse and olive oil or the Isola delle Rose with Aperol, gin and rosemary in the cocktail class at the Rose Bar. Sounds daring, tastes delicious! The kids can have fun in the Kids Club while their parents relax in the spa, you can let off steam on the two new padel courts, visit the church - which can also be hired for events - and much more. And every half hour, the free shuttle boat takes you through the lagoon to St. Mark's Square - which is a great experience in itself. Last but not least: one of the most beautiful cities in the world is waiting to be discovered!

Conclusion: A relaxing vacation trip to Venice couldn't be better: Living on a private island in a 16-hectare island resort with olive groves, rose gardens and a large park, a great spa and gourmet delights with the best views. La migliore vista su Venezia' - just a 15-minute boat trip away from the lagoon city.
