The waterfront project with 130 luxury residences and a marina for yachts of up to 150 m in length owes its success to two key factors: one is its central location, just a ten-minute drive from the airport in Tivat and the ferry to Herceg Novi. The other is the boldness of entrepreneurs such as Anthony Munk, Bernard Arnault and the Rothschild brothers, who did not build Porto Montenegro as a soulless ghetto in no man's land, but integrated it into the small-town structure of Tivat despite some resistance. As a result, the "rich and famous" do not keep to themselves here and the many shops, restaurants and cafés are bustling all day long.
The Regent Porto Montenegro, a grand hotel that opened in 2014 and could hardly be more stylish and contemporary, serves as the glamorous focal point on site. Mick Jagger's favorite designer, Tino Zervudachi, is responsible for the eclectic interior. So it's no wonder that you sometimes feel like a star yourself at the Regent - for example when you take the hotel boat to the private beach or when you can book the entire spa with pool, jacuzzi, sauna and hammam all to yourself every evening between 9.30 pm and midnight. During the day, however, the terraced pool club with cabanas and views of the upper decks of the yachts anchored in the harbor is a hip hangout.
Or you can stroll over to the exclusive Porto Montenegro Yacht Club, whose doors are also open to hotel guests. The hotel's culinary hotspot is the elegant Murano Restaurant, which owes its name to the crystal chandeliers on the ceiling and the delicious creations on the plates (be sure to try the octopus carpaccio with ricotta al forno and preserved lemons! A casual alternative is the gourmet corner, reminiscent of a deli in London or New York, with its own patisserie as well as creative sandwiches and salads "to stay or to go".
