The hotel is located in the historic Confalone Palace, right next to the Palazzo Sasso and was once the residence of the 18th century nobility. While the Palazzo Sasso and the Caruso are good examples of how old palaces can be adapted to the requirements of modern hotel life, this has not been achieved in the Palumbo. Everything seems somehow musty and dusty. Family-owned since 1872, not much seems to have happened here. The location of the hotel and the view are wonderful, but unfortunately that alone is not enough.

The rooms are dedicated to famous guests and could do with a breath of fresh air. Four modern design suites have been built in a separate building across the street. These have modern bathrooms, beautiful terraces and would be my first choice. Quite a contrast to the rest of the hotel!
But now comes the biggest downside: there is no hotel pool. However, the hotel does have a kind of beach club with a small pool and restaurant in Castiglione di Ravello, about 10 to 15 minutes away by car, right by the sea. The service is more on a three-star level, which may also be due to the fact that the staff, who are mainly from Asia, are not properly managed. Much more could be done with this hotel. There is an urgent need for action.
