Anyone who has never experienced a W before will probably open their eyes in the lobby. A modern, brightly colored wonderland has been created here, tailored to a mostly young, Asian clientele. Even if you are not staying at the hotel, a sunset cocktail on the "WET®" deck on the 12th floor is a DJ-accompanied spectacle. White mist rises every few minutes over the huge pool deck, illuminated in pink and purple. The Petrona Twin Towers sparkle close enough to touch, and when the sky is clear, even the stars twinkle.

The bright colors of the public areas are continued in the rooms, albeit in front of white walls and on light wooden floors. The high-tech equipment in my spacious suite seems puzzling to me. The three televisions come on automatically when you enter, but only two can be switched off. I have a similar experience with the various lamps. If I tap lightly on the corresponding panel, the bedside lamps and the wardrobe and bathroom lights go on or off at the same time. That's annoying when you want to fall into bed and read a bit more. My 520 m2 EWOW suite has a loft feel thanks to the high ceilings. The eye-catcher is the pentagonal dining counter in the middle of the room, with a sideboard behind it, ideal if you want to entertain. And, of course, the private 10-meter pool with a breezy view of the city. As young and stylishly playful as the W
may seem, breakfast at "Flock" is a highly professional culinary experience. Half a dozen stations and two open kitchens conjure up delicacies for every taste. Be it Malaysian, Indian, Chinese or Western. I particularly like the large selection of tropical fruits and the variety of freshly squeezed juices. Although the "Yen" restaurant is dedicated to
Cantonese cuisine, but this obviously extends as far as Beijing. The signature dish is Golden Duck. The bird is not just called that. The skin of the duck is powdered with gold dust.
