Vista Palazzo
A thoroughly composed city hideaway with rooftop
I have the 480th, a junior suite with a side view of the lake. The interior is of exquisite taste, with walnut flooring in the living area and upholstery and curtains by Dedar, a big name in Milan. The sofa and armchairs are by Minotti and Turri. A silk wallpaper shimmers above the bed, in homage to the silk metropolis of Como. The bathroom is more than inviting, bright, flooded with light, with elegant but not ostentatious marble, a cool, spacious shower cubicle, free-standing bathtub, Etro care products and - rarely enough, even in the high-price segment - fluffy towels and bathrobes. But design mishaps are also evident: the toilet roll holder has been placed too far away from the throne, the plug of the hairdryer cable has to be pushed into the socket with force - "for safety reasons".
Your hair is guaranteed not to stand on end at the Rooftop-Ristorante Sottovoce. The greeting from the kitchen - "Italian Sushi" (quinoa, cheese spread, basil oil) - is accompanied by a live swinging jazz duo. This is followed by "Green Scallops" with spinach and, as a main course, "Bombe del Lago", pasta filled with sea bass and sage. In general, chef Stefano Mattara loves experiments - for example "the fusion of Italian cucina with Asian". In any case, the Vista Palazzo as a whole is very skillfully seasoned - between the historic exterior and the elegantly chic interior.
