Borgo Egnazia
Picturesque village as a luxury hotel
Even in the lobby, you can admire the stylish and authentic design: light beige harmonizes with earthy brown, joined by ceramics and green glass as a colourful eye-catcher. The centerpiece, however, is a tree - decorated all over with small book pages that light up in the evening. Summer is harvest time, which is why you will find baskets and sacks of all kinds of nuts scattered throughout the corridors and seating niches as well as on the paths through the hotel village. The best way to explore the village is by bike, as huge bamboo bushes, fig trees and pine trees obstruct the view, making it difficult to find your way around. But that's just part of the concept here: strolling, contemplating and listening to music in the square and trying a homemade gelato are the order of the day.
All of this is part of "happiness travel", an idea of the owner family Melignano. This is easy to understand when you are staying in a villa with a pool and garden and can overlook the entire village from the rooftop. But it's not just the buildings that pay homage to Puglia. The cuisine at the romantic "Due Camini" also conjures up regional delights, for which it was awarded a Michelin star in 2019. It's no wonder that Justin Timberlake and other Hollywood celebrities have also dined here. Incidentally, we have only one recommendation for a visit to the beach: "Cala Masciola", a rocky beach with a delicious fish restaurant.
