Bella Riva
Big ambitions, small misfires
Marco Crovi, one of the owners of the hotel, must not have heard the complaint for the first time: "Sometimes you seem to have to be a NASA technician here to make things work". As he actually teaches yoga and meditation - in his own studio in Salo - he has obviously already trained himself to be suitably calm, despite all the sarcasm.
In any case, top expertise was brought in for the restaurant: Julia Bosetti, professional and always friendly, previously held a management position at Soho House London.
What comes out of the kitchen and cellar also knows how to impress: The core- gone, a local fish, washed down with a Riesling from Conti Thun. The pasta "Bigoli alla puttanesca" with fried anchovies is accompanied by a Nepomu- ceno, a divine red wine - a combination that you really don't want to push off the edge of the table.
To further enhance the guests' sense of well-being, last summer saw the start of in-house treatments by a real expert: Teddy Trevisan made a name for himself at the Lefay as a specialist in foot reflexology massages. Crovi, on the other hand, takes on the "yoga in the garden" himself with his experience from trips to India. The sessions start at 7 a.m. to avoid the noise from the adjacent busy riverside road.
Either way, the direction seems to be right: "We had the best July and August in 2020 since we opened in 2010". We wish the house well.
