Ideal for couples who appreciate a lot of togetherness in a very relaxed and very exclusive place
Birdwatching from the spacious open lobby bar, with a magnificent view over the wide bay and the dense jungle that stretches down to the beach. Or simply building a sandcastle on the beach: These are the kind of very relaxed activities that characterize the Amanera. Fitting for a real hideaway where luxury has a lot to do with privacy and experiencing nature. Our villa, which is called Casita here, cannot be seen from a distance. Like the other villas, it is tucked away in a spacious garden that stretches along a cliff. However, it is not far to our hideaway on meandering paths, on foot or in a golf cart.
Furnished in the modern, elegant Aman style , an additional outdoor living room with dining area creates a natural connection to nature. There is also a large pool and a garden with a well-tended lawn and a magnificent view of the sea, which is at times meditative and calm, and at other times exciting and effervescent. The description "breathtaking" applies almost unreservedly to the Amanera. But only almost, because there are small compromises when it comes to the cuisine. We like the breakfast best, sitting at a table that is very attentively looked after by the service and set against a pretty backdrop with a pool of water. À la carte, good products, coffee from the Frech Press - albeit only after a long wait. The lunch at the Beach Club, poke bowl and hamburger, is good, but doesn't offer gourmet travelers any new culinary delights. The location, however, is once again typical Amanera: set back on the wide sandy beach where the jungle meets the sea, you forget the time dreamily. A Spanish night is due to take place there that evening. But we prefer to enjoy room service and the privacy of the casita. Which once again elevates the location above the food - good, but not exceptional.
Our stay falls in the low season, which adds to the privacy. We are the only guests at teatime - deep relaxation par excellence in the lobby bar. Incidentally, the golf course stretches right up to this point: lush greenery to the left, the jungle to the right, an exclusive place from which it is very difficult to leave.
