The Hanseatic city is affectionately known as the gateway to the island of Rügen and is located on the Strelasund, a strait in the Baltic Sea. The old town of Stralsund has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2002. The bright red of the bricks can be found everywhere in Stralsund and makes the city shine - the parish church, the imposing town hall, monasteries and town houses all glow in bright red.
