Rhodes
The third largest Greek island is located in the southeast of the Aegean Sea and is only 17.5 kilometers from the coast of Asia Minor at one point. Rhodes has been famous since ancient times for the Colossus of Rhodes, which is one of the seven wonders of the world. Built by the Knights of the Order of Malta, the city of Rhodes is one of the best-preserved medieval cities in Europe and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Located on the east coast, Lindos in particular has become a popular destination for discerning holidaymakers, who are spoiled for choice between various first-class hotels. The picturesque village of Lindos is characterized by numerous narrow streets with typical whitewashed houses, which are often decorated with colourful flowers, magnificent captain's houses and Byzantine churches. The entire town is a protected monument. It is dominated by the impressive Acropolis, which was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1998. The oldest temple here was built around 800 BC. The highlight is the Temple of Anthina Lindia at the highest point of the Lindos Acropolis. You can be carried up by the numerous "donkey cabs". From up there, you can enjoy the unique view over Lindos and the deep blue Aegean Sea.

Food on Rhodes - a paradise for gourmets
Greek cuisine means much more than
salad, moussaka and tzatziki, as is often assumed. Try
through the island's other exquisite specialties. Rhodes is
a paradise for all those who love good food.
For those who want to satisfy their small, quick hunger, there are
around the island, where you can find gyros and souvlaki pitta
gyros and souvlaki pitta (typical Greek snack, for the small hunger
in between) as well as hamburgers and French fries. -
Don't miss out on trying the typical, very healthy Rhodian cuisine.

eating out. The Rhodians themselves, as is often the case in southern
countries, they eat very late. At lunchtime, rarely before 2 p.m. and in the evening
often only after 9 pm. A typical Greek meal is a very social endeavor

Rhodes nightlife - something for every taste
The nightlife on Rhodes is very lively. In the old town there are
countless small bars, cafés and clubs. You are sure to find a place
to your taste. There is another center of nightlife in the middle of the
larger hotels at the top of the island around Orfanidou Street.
There are many small bars there that cater to the different
countries of origin of the tourists (Danes, Swedes, Dutch,
English, Norwegians etc.) The atmosphere there is usually very lively. Not far away is the Colorado live club with three levels and excellent live rock. However, the old town is the much more varied part of Greek nightlife. There are big clubs and discos a little further out of town in the open air.
There is high life there all summer long.
The prices are often not very cheap. A small beer can
cost as much as 5 euros. So it can be very sensible to start with a glass in the hotel or
a glass in the hotel or guesthouse and not go out until around 12 noon.
