Hiking and wine tasting
In autumn, the hiking trails along the wine routes entice visitors with the golden leaves of the trees and full-bodied wines. Wine festivals and autumn hiking events have a long tradition. The Langenlois wine trail is a leisurely walk. Slight inclines, varied landscapes, various places to stop for refreshments and young wines sweeten the autumn walk. Walks in the Danube wetlands are always worthwhile. The national park and its protected nature know how to inspire its visitors. In winter, when it is cold outside and cozy and warm inside, you can explore the many cultural offerings of Lower Austria. The cultural hunger can be satisfied in the museum miles of Krems and St. Pölten, for example. The Kunsthalle Krems, which is being extensively renovated until June 30, 2017, is the place to go for art lovers from all over the world. You can follow in the footsteps of caricaturists at the Krems Caricature Museum. Lower Austrian history is on display at the Landesmusuem in St. Pölten as well as the museum village in Niedersulz. The latter is an open-air museum where the concept of history you can touch and feel has been realized. Lovers of architecture will get their money's worth when visiting the numerous abbeys, monasteries, castles and palaces. The adjoining parks are also a feast for the eyes.
