Loire region - the cultural heartland of France
The beautiful Loire Valley with its many sights is a popular travel destination in France. Most of the castles have been restored, are well maintained and are open to visitors. Impressive towns include Amboise, Angers, Blois, Bourges, Chinon, Orléans, Saumur and Tours. Many small towns also have flair and can boast restored old town centers or charming details.
The Loire Valley has undergone major changes over the course of history due to the feuds of the nobility, but has also been the political and intellectual-cultural heartland of France for centuries.

Dining in France - In the garden of France
The Loire Valley is home to many famous goat's cheeses. However, the most prominent representative is certainly the Crottin de Chavignol. The two-hundred-strong village of Chavignol near Sancerre became famous for it. The small cylindrical goat's cheese has probably been produced in the Chavignol area since the 16th century, but it was not until 1829 that its name was first mentioned in writing.
The Loire Valley is also known as "the garden of France", because its fresh fruit and vegetables fulfill every desire. The cool, northern Atlantic climate also produces refreshing red and rosé wines, aromatic white wines and tasty, fresh sparkling wines

Castles of the Loire - something for everyone
Loire, a word that evokes many associations. Most holidaymakers think of the countless castles built by kings and rich nobles.
The variety and individuality of the residences, pleasure and hunting castles, surrounded by strictly protected natural areas, gardens and parks, is unique. The castles are well preserved, not least thanks to the entrance fees paid by the many tourists who use their vacation to visit these cultural monuments.
The romantic and harmonious natural and cultural landscape on one of the last untamed rivers in Europe also attracts hikers, bikers, canoeists, anglers, balloonists, horse riders and golfers.

Sightseeing Loire - More than "just" a cultural stronghold
Cave villages, such as that of Trôo, the witch museum in Concressault, the automobile museum in Valencay and numerous art museums show how varied the sights in the Loire Valley are.
Hotels, farms, private guest rooms, castles and campsites offer travelers accommodation. Due to the beautiful nature and mild climate, the region is perfect for hiking or cycling. The 120-kilometre-long, fully signposted and secured Angers - Tours cycle path, for example, runs through the beautiful countryside.

The Loire Valley with its fertile fields and pastures is also known as the Garden of France. Wines come from Touraine, Anjou or are known as Chinon wines or Bourguleil.
