Liguria

Located in the north-west of Italy, on the border with France, Liguria is a region of impressive mountains and rolling hills, surrounded by bright green Mediterranean vegetation and the Ligurian Sea with its steep and rugged coastline. The region has many faces - different yes, but inextricably linked. This popular vacation destination offers visitors a breathtaking panorama of nature, mountains and sea, culture, entertainment and sophisticated life - you really are spoiled for choice!

Liguria's most important resource is the sea with its rocky cliffs interrupted by small bays with fine sandy beaches. The Cinque Terre with the Gulf of Poets, the Gulf of Tigullio, Genoa with the Gulf of Paradiso and the Riviera of Palms and Flowers make up the famous Ligurian coast, which stretches a good 300 km from Ameglia to Ventimiglia: a succession of wide beaches, small harbors and dreamy corners to discover, offering plenty of entertainment and shopping opportunities in the evenings. San Remo, the city of flowers, famous for its Italian music festival and casino, the elegant Bordighera and Alassio with its 3 km long sandy beach, Laigueglia and Varigotti are just some of the pearls of the Riviera di Ponente.

Portovenere, opposite the islands of Palmaria and Lerici, with its impressive medieval castle, elegant villas and lush gardens, is also well worth a visit. The magnificent sea also attracts numerous sperm whales, rorquals and dolphins, which have found their natural habitat in this so-called "whale sanctuary". The extensive forests of Liguria with their ancient trees are true natural monuments and represent an interesting alternative to a beach vacation.
