British Virgin Islands

The British Virgin Islands are an overseas territory of the United Kingdom and lie to the east of Puerto Rico. The 60 islands, of which only 16 are inhabited, were formed by volcanic eruptions and the majority consist exclusively of coral reefs. The breathtaking beauty of the islands has made them a highly frequented travel destination for decades.
Road Town, the administrative center and largest town on the islands with a population of 8,600, offers sights such as the impressive botanical gardens with their exotic variety of plants, an open-air enclosure for tropical birds and British colonial buildings and fortifications. Swimming, snorkeling and diving in shimmering waters are tempting on the third largest island, Virgin Gorda, where you can also marvel at "The Baths", formed from granite rocks.
