Surfer's Paradise - Costa Rica

Do you love that unsurpassed feeling of freedom when you catch the perfect wave and glide majestically over the azure blue water? Surfing is more than just a water sport - surfing is a very special lifestyle. And one of the most beautiful places in the world to really indulge in it is Costa Rica. The small natural paradise between the Caribbean and the Pacific offers dream beaches as far as the eye can see. The multi-faceted Guanacaste region in the northwest of the country is literally a hot tip: Year-round sunshine, over 700 kilometers of Pacific coastline, colourful culture and traditions, nature and pure adventure - what more could you want!

One reason for the great popularity of the Guancaste region is the fantastic weather, which has something for everyone - and you can rely on it. Whether it's the rainy season or the dry season - the region in the northwest of the country is considered the sunniest, sunniest and warmest climate in Costa Rica and is an ideal travel destination in both seasons. Sun-seekers are drawn to Guanacaste in the dry season from December to April with temperatures of over 30 degrees Celsius and dry heat with a constant light breeze. The rainy season from May to November also has its advantages and is not known as the "green season" for nothing: The entire region shines in lush shades of green and blooms in the most beautiful colors. Occasional light tropical rain showers in the afternoon provide a pleasant cool down after sunny mornings with average temperatures of around 24 to 30 degrees Celsius. Active people and sports enthusiasts in particular are often drawn to Guanacaste during the rainy season, as it is not too hot and the waves are more perfect for surfers during this period.

OUR TOP RECOMMENDATIONS IN GUANCASTE FOR THE PERFECT SURF:

Playa Nosara and Playa Guiones
These two beautiful beaches are characterized by their wide expanse and light sand - and of course by the strong swell, which is ideal for surfers. Playa Nosara is 3 kilometers long and has a beautiful marshland by the Nosara River. One of the area's outstanding tourist attractions is Punta Nosara, which is formed by a rock formation where the waves break. Both Playa Guiones and Playa Nosara have a good tourist offer that allows you to go on horseback riding excursions and boat trips through the swamp. The strong swell makes this beach the ideal place for surfing and, thanks to its beautiful landscape, it has become a place for yoga and spiritual tourism.

Playa Samara
Playa Samara is a bay about 4 kilometers long, with white sand, gentle waves and a marshland. It is considered one of the safest and most beautiful beaches in Costa Rica. On the horizon, just opposite Punta Indio, you can see the island of Chora and the coral reef area. The vegetation corresponds to the coast, with trees such as manzanillo, coconut palms and ground-covering plants such as the beach bean. Like Tamarindo, this beach has been awarded the Blue Ecological Flag for its commitment to the environment. Apart from the beautiful beach, the village of Samara offers various attractions and water activities such as surfing, fishing, snorkeling, diving and more.
