Qatar
Hayyakum! - Welcome to Qatar! The state on the Arabian Peninsula is attracting a steadily growing number of international visitors. The high-quality hotel industry, numerous leisure and recreational opportunities, the year-round sunny climate and the Arabian culture ensure a varied vacation experience. Qatar's tourism focus is primarily on art and culture, and the metropolis also offers a wealth of photo opportunities, such as the kilometer-long Corniche promenade, mosques and museums. Traditional buildings contrast with modern shopping centers, and opulent parks invite you to relax, while oriental scents, spices and souvenirs await visitors in the lively alleyways of the souks.
Tip: a night-time trip on the dhows (wooden sailing ships) to experience the panorama of the illuminated skyline from the water.
The museum landscape of Doha is very diverse. One highlight is the National Museum of Qatar, designed by Jean Nouvel, which opened in spring and reflects the country's cultural heritage and history. The epochal Museum of Islamic Art (MIA) was designed by the architectural legend I.M. Pei. The diverse cultural village of Katara offers theater and opera performances, concerts and film festivals. Outside the capital, picturesque natural landscapes such as the inland sea of Chaur al-Udaid, which extends deep into the desert and combines bathing fun with dune experiences, beckon. Qatar's other natural beauties include the 40-metre deep fibrous gypsum cave at Dahl Al Misfir and the mangrove forests of Al Thakira, which is a wonderful place for kayaking.
PS: Travelers from over 85 countries can enter Qatar without a visa. Qatar Airways flies to Doha daily from Frankfurt, Munich, Berlin, Zurich, Geneva and Vienna.
