Bratislava

The capital of Slovakia, idyllically situated on the banks of the Danube , has transformed itself into a trendy city destination with a high lifestyle factor in recent years. A visit is worthwhile all year round.

It is considered one of Europe's greenest capitals, has a beautiful old town as well as modern districts built by world-famous architects and also has a lot to offer in terms of art, culture and enjoyment. We give you 5 good reasons that will soon make you a "Bratislover" too!

1. enjoyment 85 meters above the Danube
The iconic SNP Bridge is one of Bratislava's landmarks. If you want, you can not only admire it from below, but also travel up to it and indulge yourself at lofty heights in the UFO restaurant. At a height of 85 meters, you can enjoy excellent Mediterranean and Asian cuisine while the city and the Danube lie at your feet - a spectacular sight, especially in the evening!

2. world art and beautiful views in the Danubiana Gallery
A unique location and attractive exhibitions: These are two of the reasons why the Danubiana Gallery is one of the must-sees in Bratislava. Works by artists such as Joan Miró, Sam Francis and Lucebert have already been shown here. A walk across the roof of the museum is also exceptional: the view of Bratislava, the Little Carpathian mountain range and the majestic Danube is an unforgettable experience - especially at sunset.

3. on the trail of Maria Theresa
Bratislava was always Maria Theresa's favorite city. The empress was particularly fond of the mighty Bratislava Castle, which towers high above the city and the Danube. Following extensive reconstruction, the building complex now shines once again as a prestigious Baroque residence and attracts visitors with classical concerts and theater performances in the courtyards. One of the most beautiful views can be enjoyed from the east terrace. The French garden, which has been restored according to the original plans, is also not far from here.

4. The green heart of the city
Bratislava has one of the oldest public parks in Central Europe, the 42-hectare Sad Janka Kráľa in the Petržalka district. To this day, you can stroll under 200-year-old plane trees or admire the sculpture of your own star sign. The Medická záhrada (Medical Garden), the Horský park (Forest Park) and the Prezidentská záhrada (Presidential Garden) are other parks worth seeing in the city center.

5. tradition meets modernity
It is only a few minutes' walk from the historic Old Town with its cozy alleys and squares to modern Bratislava with the brightly shining natural stone façade of the Slovak National Theatre and the Eurovea shopping center. In Eurovea you will not only find renowned fashion brands, but also cafés and restaurants with riverside terraces where you can refresh yourself with a view of the Danube and Bratislava Castle.
