June: The Chedi Andermatt

Where alpine elegance meets lavish luxury

In the heart of the imposing Swiss Alps, where majestic mountain scenery and architectural sophistication meet at eye level, The Chedi Andermatt has been setting new standards in the international luxury hotel industry for over a decade. Situated at 1,447 meters above sea level, the five-star deluxe hotel combines Asian-inspired tranquillity with Alpine power - a signature style that runs like a common thread through the entire experience, from design to service and gastronomy.

The 119 rooms and suites - many with fireplaces and panoramic views - convey a feeling of spaciousness, seclusion and unagitated luxury. Materials such as old wood, natural stone and leather are combined with subtle Far Eastern accents to create an ambience that delights international travelers as well as discerning aesthetes in search of something special.

The Chedi Andermatt is also in a culinary league of its own. In The Japanese Restaurant - awarded two Michelin stars and 18 GaultMillau points - the two Executive Chefs Dominik Sato and Fabio Toffolon create Japanese-inspired haute cuisine with a clear eye for precision, texture and aroma. If you want to take the experience to the extreme, make your way up to The Japanese at Gütsch at 2,400 m: Europe's highest Japanese star restaurant (1 Michelin star, 16 GaultMillau points) offers equally refined cuisine - from omakase and shidashi bento to the finest tempura - with a spectacular panoramic view over the Gotthard, the Oberalp Pass and the Ursern Valley. Both restaurants are an expression of the same culinary signature: minimalist, elegant and masterfully presented.

In The Restaurant, on the other hand, Alpine products meet Asian flavors. A modern, cosmopolitan cuisine is created in four open studio kitchens - creative, lively and always surprising. The heart of the culinary experience is the five-metre-high glassed-in cheese tower, which will not only amaze cheese lovers. The culinary offering is complemented by afternoon tea in the lobby, aperitifs in The Bar and Living Room and cocktails under the open sky in the stylish Courtyard.

The stay comes to a perfect end in the 2,400 square meter The Spa & Health Club - a place to slow down and regenerate. Between the 35-metre-long indoor pool, the heated outdoor pool with a view of the Alps, sauna landscapes, hydrotherapy zones and signature treatments inspired by the Far East, this is where true retreat is revealed: peace, space and a luxury that has an inward effect.
