Designed in 2010 by star architect JEAN NOUVEL, the hotel is considered one of the most iconic and polarizing buildings in the city and its urban style clearly sets it apart from the classic Viennese grand hotels. Not least because of the brightly colored ceiling by media artist Pipilotti Rist and the otherwise deliberately minimalist color concept in white, gray and black, it became a real eye-catcher and find for design lovers. In 2018, when the hotel switched from the Sofitel brand to SO/, carefully placed color accents were added under the direction of Viennese architect GREGOR EICHINGER and newly interpreted motifs from Viennese history were artfully added.
