Gmachl, the Village of Delights
It is one of the oldest hotels in the Salzburg mountain village of Gmachl, a hamlet celebrated for its culinary delights. For more than 600 years, hospitality has been a way of life here, amid idyllic nature and yet merely a stone’s throw from Salzburg.
The rooms and suites exude an inviting coziness and fastidious attention to detail. Light-coloured furniture, elegant fabrics, abundant natural light, and views of the garden from the balcony or terrace combine to create an atmosphere in which guests instantly feel at home. The latest addition is the expansive Dorfsuiten, each boasting a private spa with a whirlpool and sauna on the terrace.
A Village of Wellness
The DorfSPA is also a true wellness experience—a hillside featuring various saunas, a wonderfully soothing relaxation room with hammocks, and views of the greenery. The Vitarium and Private Spa round out the offerings. In the DorfSPA garden, complete with a family sauna, the new 25-meter-long infinity pool is a highlight. For those who enjoy staying active, there’s a fitness area and an activity room.
Savoring Life: Whether at the Hauben.Gasthof or at FRANZ. Der Wirt, the culinary journey ranges from a regional breakfast, through a hearty afternoon snack, to the refined delights of the five-course award-winning menu in the evening—pleasing the palate has been a top priority for the Gmachl family for generations. Head Chef Andreas K. emphasizes the finest ingredients, recipes that blend rural and urban influences, and natural flavors. The Gmachl Culinary Village also features a unique village store, an on-site brewery, and a butcher shop. Photos: Gmachl Culinary Village
