The natural stone and glass façade forms the framework of our hotel, built in 2001 in the heart of Hamburg. In early 2018, the SIDE underwent a complete renovation—once again under the direction of designer Matteo Thun—and was equipped with state-of-the-art technology. The absolute highlight is the 28-meter-high atrium.
The moment you step into the hotel, you can feel the special atmosphere. Even after nearly two decades, Robert Wilson’s impressive light installation still casts its warm, golden glow on arriving guests. The reception desk—resting on a bronze pedestal—combines elegance with surprising comfort. A small seating area with hand-woven fabric discreetly rounds out the reception area.
In the rooms and suites, pastel-colored upholstered furniture, handcrafted Tuscan vases, and delicate Murano glass sparrows add stylish accents. The rest remains in crisp white—because a touch of coolness is a must.
In search of the ultimate wow factor, guests are drawn to the 8th floor, to the Sky Lounge. The rooftop terrace offers a fantastic view over Hamburg and is a popular venue for events. Culinary highlights include steaks from Lower Saxony, Argentina, and the USA at the [m]eatery restaurant. Here, guests will find dishes inspired by numerous cuisines—both Asian and Middle Eastern. Another highlight is the spa area: a place full of energy and joie de vivre, accentuated by bold colors. Whether in the spacious pool with an integrated Jacuzzi, in the sauna, or in the steam room—here you can relax completely and recharge your batteries.
