COMO Laucala
Laucala becomes COMO Laucala
When the island later became the property of an Austrian drinks magnate, the luxury resort was extensively expanded and has been considered one of the most exclusive destinations in the South Pacific since its reopening in 2008. Now Laucala Island is once again opening a new chapter. The Hideawy recently became part of COMO Hotels and Resorts.
Curtain up for COMO Laucala Island
Guests staying in one of the 25 villas arrive in style by private plane. And then find themselves in a sustainable resort that is 80 percent self-sufficient. The island's five restaurants follow a strict farm-to-table concept. Conveniently, the farm belonging to the tables is also located on the island. Quails, Wagyu cattle and Fiji sheep are bred on a 240-hectare farm. The farm is complemented by a vanilla plantation and a lush herb garden. The seafood is bought exclusively from local fishermen. From these high-quality ingredients, the chefs conjure up the healthy COMO Shambhala Cuisine that guests of COMO Hotels and Resorts have always appreciated.
The COMO Shambhala Retreat, the island's wellness center, is also part of the philosophy. In addition to fitness courses, yoga and a fitness center, guests will also find high-quality treatments with the typical COMO Shambhala ingredients. And because a successful vacation is not just about good food and wellness, but also about unique experiences, COMO Laucala Island offers a wide range of varied leisure activities.
For example, it is the first COMO resort to offer a tropical 18-hole golf course. This was designed by golf course architect David McLay Kidd. Jet skiing, diving trips, horse riding, hiking, mountain biking: There's never a dull moment here. If you want, you can explore the white sandy beaches, tropical rainforests, volcanic mountains, blue lagoons, mangroves and coconut plantations to your heart's content.
A total of 25 residences are available to guests as retreats. The smallest of these is 3,000 square meters in size and all have their own pool. The villas are located on private beaches, lagoons on hills and in the mountains. Each villa is looked after by its own COMO butler, who anticipates the guests' every wish. The opening as COMO Laucala Island took place on December 15, 2021.
