Castell son Claret

A feast for the senses under a starry sky

Classical music and culinary delights at the Castell Classics 2021

The setting for a classical music event could not be more stylish. The historic Castell Son Claret estate from the 18th century, surrounded by fragrant gardens, is an ideal backdrop for classical concerts. A long-awaited highlight of the 2021 cultural summer on Mallorca is the return of the Castell Classics. They were canceled last year and again in June 2021 due to coronavirus.

Now the six soloists of the Salzburg Festival's Young Singers will be guests. Accompanied and led by Festival President Dr. Helga Rabl-Stadler, who introduced the artists and program with a great deal of wit and humour.

Even the approach to Castell Son Claret on the avenue lined with palm trees and bush roses conveys the character of a luxurious private residence surrounded by Mediterranean plants. The guests enjoyed a relaxed, elegant and casual get-together with cocktails and delicious buffets in the park in front of the castle-like manor house. Afterwards, hotel director Björn Spaude invited guests to dinner at stylishly decorated round tables on the terrace.
A sophisticated 3-course menu framed the musical performances of the talented singers. The arias, performed solo and as duets, as well as the culinary delights were enthusiastically received by the culturally interested audience.

A special thank you also went to the Hamburg couple Christine and Klaus Michael Kühne, who own this beautiful retreat and have made a name for themselves as generous sponsors in the world of music and other areas such as medicine and art.
The evening's program ranged from Mozart arias to French vocal pieces and Italian opera music, which were sensitively accompanied by Alessandro Misciaci on the piano. A tribute to the guest country Spain with the aria "Zarzuela" concluded this atmospheric event.

The three classical summer concerts, which have been held at Son Claret since 2013, are among the few open-air performances by Europe's most renowned opera houses.
The last chance to take part in one of these coveted cultural events in 2021 will be on August 11 with soloists from the Hamburg State Opera and the ensemble of the Balearic Islands Symphony Orchestra conducted by Pablo Mielgo.
