New cruise ship port on Nassau

On May 26, 2023, a new cruise ship port opened in the Bahamian capital Nassau. 300 million US dollars were invested in the renovation of Prince George Wharf over four years. All existing moorings were renovated and a new one was built. From now on, six cruise ships a day can dock, including the Icon or Oasis class, the largest in the world. This increases the number of daily visitors from 20,000 to 30,000. Nassau thus becomes the second largest cruise ship port in the Caribbean after Cozumel in Mexico. A cultural center is also being built in the port area, which will include a museum for the Bahamian carnival Junkanoo as well as a theater, an art gallery and a living coral wall. A restaurant and other family-friendly attractions will open by 2024.
