Piña Colada at the Caribe Hilton
Must-do in the Caribbean!
In 1954, the management encouraged the staff to invent a special drink for the hotel. Barman Ramón "Monchito" Marrero came up with a drink made from freshly squeezed pineapple juice, coconut cream and whipped cream, but did not yet add rum. By the end of the decade, the cocktail had lost its "virgin" status. In the Caribar, guests enjoy the drink fresh as dew. There is no comparison with the many imitations that incorporate artificial Piña Colada mixes.
For a city hotel in the heart of San Juan, the Caribe Hilton offers plenty of privacy and nature. Guests can relax in the extensive pool area and on the long, horseshoe-shaped private beach. When the sun disappears into the sea, the piña colada tastes best here.
