Stay in a tree house hotel

Architect Andrés Brenes implemented an unusual concept at the Nayara Bocas del Toro on Frangipani Island, a private island near Bocas del Toro, the Key West of Panama. He built the first tree house hotel on the country's Caribbean coast, not far from the border with Costa Rica. He imitated the resorts located directly above the water in Bora Bora, Tahiti and the Maldives. Frangipani Island comprises 4000 m2 of land and over 300,000 m2 of mangrove forests. Brenes designed 14 luxury villas, some with private plunge pools, some with glass floors from which you can look directly into the sea. If you make yourself comfortable in one of the Ibuku tree houses designed by Elora Hardy, you can enjoy the natural surroundings 12 meters above the water's surface in the treetops. A copper bathtub is also available on the balcony. All meals are brought up to the room by a mute servant. The restaurant is located in the Elephant House, a 100-year-old structure imported from Bali. The hotel is sustainably built from bamboo and wood from the Panama Canal that has been repurposed.
