Jumeirah Al Wathba Desert Resort & Spa is open
Jumeirah Al Wathba Desert Resort & Spa, the first Jumeirah Hotel in the Abu Dhabi desert, was opened under the management of German Axel Jarosch.
Nestled in the desert panorama of the Al Wathba district, the Jumeirah Al Wathba Desert Resort & Spa extends over a total area of 22,000 square meters. Inspired by the style and layout of an Arabian desert village, the hotel rooms and suites are spread around a central village square, where guests will find the 1,000 square meter pool, restaurants and spa. The inner courtyards and small, winding walkways are also reminiscent of traditional architecture from the Orient.
Starting from the large pool in the center, small waterways run through the entire resort
inspired by the falaj, an irrigation system from Oman. "Jumeirah Al Wathba Desert Resort & Spa is the perfect retreat for those seeking a tranquil setting. With breathtaking views of the desert, the hotel offers a relaxing experience," says Axel Jarosch, General Manager from Germany. The nature that surrounds the hotel contributes to this experience: Dunes, camels and birds from the nearby Al Wathba Wetland Reserve complete the feeling of peace and tranquillity. The more adventurous can enjoy unique experiences such as fat biking, hiking through the desert and falconry shows.
The resort has six restaurants ranging from Arabic to Italian cuisine.
The spacious rooftop bar, which offers breathtaking views of the desert sunset, is sure to quickly become a favorite spot for all guests. A highlight is the hotel's own desert camp Al Mabeet, inspired by the Bedouins and reminiscent of the Arabian Nights.
An oasis of well-being at the resort is the Destination Talise Spa
which was inspired by the desert. Guests can relax here with treatments in the 13 suites with their own terraces or in the Turkish hammam. Snow caves and kyrotherapy rooms are also on offer. A yoga platform rounds off the wellness offer. With its location in the desert, the Jumeirah Al Wathba Desert Resort & Spa is a perfect addition to the Jumeirah portfolio in Abu Dhabi, which now reflects the diversity of the emirate with the city hotel Jumeirah at Etihad Towers and the beach hotel Jumeirah at Saadiyat Island Resort. "The resort combines the best of Arabian tradition, architecture and hospitality and promises a luxurious experience in the desert panorama. We look forward to welcoming more guests to the fascinating emirate of Abu Dhabi in the future," says Jose Silva, CEO of Jumeirah, about the hotel group's latest luxury hotel.
Despite the desert location, the livelier places are not far away.
Abu Dhabi is 40 minutes away and Dubai can be reached in 90 minutes. However, one of the most important cultural experiences in Abu Dhabi can only be found in Al Wathba. The Sheikh Zayed Heritage Festival takes place there once a year. For two months, the festival is celebrated under the patronage of HH Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates, and guests have the opportunity to experience the rich traditions of the Emirates up close.
