Club Med Columbus Isle: San Salvador, Bahamas

Reopening after complete renovation

When Christopher Columbus set off on his journey to "India", he landed on a deserted island surrounded by crystal-clear sea. He promptly named it "San Salvador" after the Christian savior, today part of the Bahamian archipelago.

The maritime flora and fauna on this island are almost as unspoiled as they were in Columbus' time. The 240 rooms spread across a series of colorful, two-story bungalows overlook a 500-meter-long beach.

The resort reopened in November 2023 after a complete renovation. As with all other Club Med resorts, the focus here is on sport. Guests can dive to a memorial stone carved with the date of Columbus' landing. Dolphins and hammerhead sharks frolic in the water. The "Wellness Fusion" program includes yoga, meditation and massages by moonlight. For the main restaurant "Christopher", cookbook author Chloe Coscarelli has come up with delicious vegan specialties. The menu now includes a bourguinon of beet, tomato tartare with feta and pesto and grilled avocados with pomegranate and truffle vinaigrette.
