Grenada Chocolate Fest
Every May, those with a sweet tooth look forward to a special event in Grenada, which is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year. From May 16 to 21, they can let sweet delicacies melt in their mouths at the Grenada Chocolate Fest. The island is proud of its sustainable cocoa bean cultivation and its chocolate products that come "straight from the tree". This allows the producers to retain control over the end product instead of exporting the beans to European countries or the USA. Grenada Chocolate Company was the first chocolate company in the Caribbean to start these eco-activities. At the festival, participants visit several chocolate farms and factories and learn about different flavors and the island as a whole. They also create their own sweets and taste their way through a five-course menu in which cocoa is not always paired with sugar. And on a Caribbean island, the universal drink rum is a must: at the Annandale waterfall, festival participants taste which type of rum goes best with which brand of chocolate. Don't forget your bathing suit!
