Acqualina Resort & Residences, Sunny Isles

Facelift for Miami's only hotel with direct sea access

In February, the magazine "US News & World Report" awarded prizes to the best hotels and resorts in the USA. Acqualina Resorts & Residences in Sunny Isles took first place. It has the particular advantage of being the only hotel in Miami to offer its guests direct access to the sea. Following a face lift, Brazilian marble and hand-woven carpets from Nepal now embellish the ambience.

The interior designers wanted to emulate the dolce vita feeling of an Italian villa. Sunshades and sun loungers show their colors in cheerful shades of red. Guests can enjoy the sea view from three huge swimming pools. One tranquility pool is reserved for adults only. In the 2000 m2, two-storey spa, experts specialize in enzyme therapy to slow down the ageing process. Those in need of relaxation can unwind in the crystal steam bath and refresh themselves in the arctic ice fountain. An Italian, Japanese and American restaurant has now been joined by the high-end Greek restaurant Avra Estiatorio, which is spacious and glamorously styled, but still has a cozy feel. The menu here features wonderfully fresh fish and seafood such as saganaki mussels, which are seasoned with tomatoes, peppers, lentils, feta and Assyrtiko wine. The 98 rooms and suites and 188 residences of the resort bring the big wide world to Miami.
